History

Royale Decorators is a family-based business that covers 3 generations. Started in the early 80’s by Roy Cox, the Grand Father.

In those early days, Roy couldn’t afford a van, so he travelled to jobs on his bike with his ladder. The business was based in Reading and over the years grew into a successful decorating company with over 40 decorators on the books. The business worked closely with Reading Borough Council and Berkshire County Council, painting many buildings at the University, Hospitals, Schools etc

We worked as the number one contractor for many building companies including Boshers of Cholsey, right up until Roy retired and the business was passed on to his son, Stephen in the late 90’s. The big issue here was Stephen had moved to Denmark but was determined to keep the family business going. So after many trips back and forth gathering all the decorating equipment, scaffolding etc, Royale Decorators was now based in Denmark.

Over the years the business continued to grow and included being the first choice decorating contractor for a major Dutch building company called Pelikaan Construction where we decorated a number of Sports Centres in the UK.

In 2004 the business in Denmark was shut down as Stephen decided to move back to the UK. It was going to be 20 years before the next chapter of Royale Decorators was written. Grandson of Roy, Chris, an experienced decorator in his own right, decided to restart the business and re-launch the Royale Decorating name and brand. Let’s see what the next 20 years brings….
